GENERAL INFORMATION

What is TTR Device?

Transformer Turning Ratio Tester TTR is designed to measure transformer winding ratio or voltage turn ratio of three-phase or single-phase power transformers. Transformer testers have areas of use such as voltage, current amplification and reduction. Turning ratio changes are seen between the windings in the transformer over time. These differences in the conversion ratio may cause under or over billing in the measurement transformers.

Why Is It Important That The Turning Ratio Does Not Change?

The change in the conversion ratio over time will ensure that the output voltage from the secondary of the transformer is not at the desired value. Different from the values ​​that will be reflected to the output outside the current/voltage values ​​designed in production, a voltage/current value that is less than required or a voltage/current value more than required may cause insulation problems in systems, unbalanced loads, sudden trips in switchgear elements and fires.

How to Calculate Conversion Rate?

Due to environmental factors such as dust and humidity over time, some changes in the turning ratios are inevitable. To determine the turning ratio of an ideal transformer, a known input voltage is applied to one of the windings. The output voltage is measured. The winding ratio is determined by proportioning the input and output voltage values. Thus, the ratio found and the value written on the transformer label must be the same as determined in the production of the transformer.

How Should TTR Device Selection Be?

Devices known as TTR Devices are used for testing the conversion ratios of transformers. When using these testers, it is necessary to consider the size and parameters of the transformer. Because many businesses can use transformers at different voltage levels and powers. Therefore, the test device to be used should be selected according to the appropriate parameters.
