Tangent Delta Tester (Automatic) | MT-OTDT2

Tangent Delta Tester is applied to measure the dielectric loss and capacitor value of insulation materials in high voltage power equipment. The non-power frequency voltage source is integrated in the tester to avoid power frequency interference. That make the tester has a good performance in measurement precision.

Tangent Delta Tester (Automatic) | MT-OTDT2

Introduction

The measurement of dielectric loss is a fundamental method in the insulation test and effectively detects the moisture, deterioration and partial defects of the insulation of electrical devices. This method is widely used in power generation, distribution and connection facilities and preventive tests. Dielectric loss measurements in devices such as transformers, inductors, reactors, capacitors are the most basic method for testing insulation properties.

This device is characterized by powerful interference prevention capability, high test speed, high precision, automatic digitization and easy operation.

With high power switching power supply, it can produce a pure sine wave at 45 Hz and 55 Hz frequencies and automatically increase the voltage up to 10 kV. It can be used in field tests of the substation and other places where the electromagnetic interference is high by filtering the 50Hz noise automatically.

GENERAL INFORMATION
What is the Tan Delta Test?

Since transformer oil is used in circuit breakers, cables and switches, it is necessary to test the conditioning of the oil. This is because it strengthens the dielectric properties of the oil and hence the Tan Delta Test is used to know the condition of the oil in the transformer.

What is the Purpose of the Tan Delta Test?

The main purpose of the tan delta test is to ensure that the transformer operates safely and reliably. It gives the result of the insulation behavior of the windings by calculating the spread factor and capacitance values.

With the tan delta test method, the loss factor and capacitance values at the required frequency level can be easily known. Thus, any aging factor can be detected earlier and the relevant action can be taken.
