This cable tester C carrier (see TS IEC 60245-2, Figure 1) consists of a drive system for the carrier and four pulleys for each cable sample tested. Carrier C supports pulleys A and B of the same diameter. The two fixed pulleys at both ends of the device may be of different diameters (A and B), but all four pulleys are arranged so that the sample remains horizontal between them. The carrier draws forward and backward circles more than 1 meter at an average speed of about 0.33 m / s between each change of direction of travel.
A sample of flexible cable about 5 m long is tensioned between the pulleys and weight is attached to each end. The mass of these weights and the diameter of the pulleys A and B are given in the table below.
